Lovely Garden Question of the Week - Geraniums
QUESTION:
What causes geraniums to shrivel and rot? The upper stems are dry and hollow and the stems and roots rot off below the soil.
Amy Hill, Abilene, Texas
ANSWER:
Obviously, your geraniums are suffering from stem rot. This trouble is usually associated with too much moisture. In the winter, keep the geraniums almost dry and avoid subjecting them to damp atmospheric conditions that would aggrevate the difficulty.
